The opportunity to network, a killer portfolio piece, and a cash award are among the rewards awaiting the winner of the Textiles & Graphics Student Design Challenge 2008.

The Fabric Graphics Association of the IFAI invites students enrolled in a post-secondary textile, graphic design, or interior design program to enter.

“The goal of the student design challenge is to expose design students to the emerging fabric graphics market and to explore fabric as a new design medium,” says Jan Schieffer, Fabric Graphics Association managing director. “Students are paired with a fabric graphics industry expert who will mentor them from start to finish.”

Challenge participants are asked to design a graphic promoting IFAI Expo 2009 that will be applied to a fabric banner. An industry expert will provide help to students regarding fabric selection, graphic techniques, graphic strike-offs, and will help fabricate the winning entry. Entries will be judged on overall design, readability, use of color, topography, and aesthetics.

Winners will receive a cash prize, a subscription to Fabric Graphics magazine, and a VIP pass to attend IFAI 2008 Expo in Charlotte, N.C. Top winners will be featured in IFAI publications.

Project entry forms must be postmarked no later than June 1. For more information go to www.fabricgraphicsassociation.com.
