Creating harmony with ECM membrane

Hanwha Polydreamer, Seoul, South Korea, has a dream job: creating five themed plazas at the 2012 International Exhibition in Yeosu, South Korea, an event expected to attract an estimated 8 million people from 103 countries. The event, held to create harmony among the earth, ocean and global ecosystems, will have enormous visibility, as will ECM, a membrane developed by the PVC-coated fabric manufacturer for structural use. ECM is coated with a special hydrophobic fluoride lacquer owned by Hanwha that makes the membrane easy to clean and stain resistant. The membrane also includes a UV protectant that reflects the sun’s damaging rays while preventing surface yellowing. The ECM will cover more than a million square feet, raising the product profile considerably. Hanwha’s primary business has been manufacturing tarps, boat covers and packaging, so the introduction of architectural membrane is a major event.
