Printing Industries of America (PIA) recognizes graphic arts companies for outstanding human relations efforts that contribute to successful workplaces with the Best Workplace in The Americas awards. The 2011 awards went to 14 “Best of the Best” and 19 “Best Workplace” companies, which range in size from small businesses to multi-plant operations. “The program is an excellent way to give employers instituting innovative yet cost-effective HR programs the recognition they deserve,” says Jim Kyger, assistant vice president of HR for Printing Industries of America. The entries are judged using more than 300 metrics, and the criteria include management practices, work environment, training and development, recognition and rewards, workplace health and safety, health and wellness, financial security and work-life balance.
