W. L. Gore & Associates launches new website for protective fabrics

Industry News | April 10, 2012 | By:

W. L. Gore & Associates Inc., has launched a new website that features multimedia demonstrations (videos and animations) to illustrate the science behind Gore’s fabric technology. There is also an improved customer support section, detailing how to buy, care for, and repair Gore fabrics.

The Fabric Solutions section of the site includes a full description of all available products and fabrics technologies geared toward the protection of military, law enforcement, fire, and safety personnel.

Gore’s garment systems and fabric technologies offer breathable, comfortable protection from extreme conditions (water, wind, cold, heat and fire) for personnel in all branches of the U.S. Armed Services. Gore recently introduced outerwear that features GORE® PYRAD™ Flame Retardant technology, a new laminate technology that offers a combination of thermal/flashover burn protection, environmental protection, and comfort. GORE PYRAD™ Flame Retardant is a laminate solution that allows manufacturers to integrate Flame Retardant (FR) performance into protective outerwear where traditional (non-FR) textiles, such as nylon and polyester, are used.

Also available are clothing, boots and gloves constructed with durably waterproof, windproof, and breathable GORE-TEX™ fabric, which keeps the wearer drier and more comfortable by preventing exposure to inclement weather, while allowing perspiration to escape.

Gore’s full line of protective barriers serves the first responder during structural firefighting, technical response, EMS, and domestic preparedness activities. Gore works with leading gear manufacturers to deliver footwear, gloves, turnout gear, and suits using CROSSTECH®, GORE RT7100, and GORE CHEMPAK® fabrics.

The latest moisture barrier for turnout gear—CROSSTECH black moisture barrier—maintains the same high level of breathability as the original CROSSTECH moisture barrier, with the added benefit of more durable performance in a wide range of environmental conditions. GORE RT7100 moisture barrier offers high levels of thermal protection and liquid penetration resistance.

Gore’s products for law enforcement professionals are durable and reliable, providing protection in challenging environments. Using GORE-TEX, CROSSTECH, WINDSTOPPER®, and GORE CHEMPAK fabrics, approved manufacturers have developed a full line of jackets, gloves, boots, and ensembles that provide protection in a variety of situations: wet and cold weather, blood, body fluids, and a broad range of toxic industrial chemicals, chemical agents, and biological agents. The Extended Response Team (XRT) suits made with GORE CHEMPAK selectively permeable fabric, enable law enforcement professionals to respond to an incident faster because the suits are quick-donning and do not require any additional chemical taping. In addition, the fabric’s breathable construction allows responders to remain on scene for up to eight hours, and its durability gives added confidence so they can focus on the task at hand.

Gore is a manufacturer of thousands of advanced technology products for the electronics, fabrics, industrial and medical markets. Perhaps best known for its waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX fabric, the company’s portfolio features a diverse array of innovations, including everything from guitar strings to life-saving cardiovascular devices. Gore is headquartered in Newark, Del. and employs 9,000 associates in 30 countries.
