Infrastructure development driving geotextile boom

Geosynthetics, Industry News | June 6, 2013 | By:

As economies in China, India and Russia grow, so does the need for better highways, railways and landfills, all of which increase growth in the geosynthetics textile market, according to Textiles Intelligence’s “Technical Textile Markets” report.

China dominates the market because of its large population, amount of available land and ambitious plans for future infrastructure. Waste management and sustainability concerns also boost geosynthetics growth, as developing nations create construction codes and environmental regulations that require safer, cleaner and more modern landfill designs.

Many markets for geosynthetics in North America, Western Europe and Japan have reached maturity, but as geosynthetics use becomes mandatory for certain projects, increases in growth could continue.
