Globe Canvas Products Company to merge with D.C. Humphrys Company

Industry News | November 7, 2013 | By:

During the 2013 Specialty Fabrics Expo in October, agreements were signed to merge the assets and personnel of Globe Canvas Products Co., Yeadon, Pa., into Philadelphia-based D.C. Humphrys Co. In a letter dated Oct. 28, Globe Canvas Products’ president Kevin Kelly, IFM, MFC, CPP, said: “Globe will continue as an operating division of Humphrys. I will serve under a long-term employment agreement as president of the Globe Division, and will also serve on the senior management team of Humphrys. Humphrys will own the Globe Division. Settlement of this transaction is expected to occur within the next 4-6 weeks.”

Humphrys, founded in 1874, employs 80 people and is a $15 million manufacturer and distributor of tarps, truck covers, windscreens, wall padding, gym mats, roll goods and other industrial fabric products. The company has also recently expanded into grand-format digital printing.

According to Kelly, “This is both an additive as well as a strategic move for both companies. It is additive because nothing that either of us builds today is built by the other. The move is strategic because we both believe in and seek growth as a business goal, and our combination allows us to achieve together that which we could not achieve individually.”
