Snapshot: A case of precision

News | April 1, 2015 | By:

When a medical equipment manufacturer needed an intricate case to hold a device to be worn by patients, the company turned to Brown Sales Corp. to help design and manufacture the item. The device was to be worn for extended periods of time, so the case was designed for comfort in addition to the customer’s many other specifications. Working back and forth with the client on the design, Brown Sales Corp. developed a prototype the client ultimately settled on—a case that requires multiple types of packcloth and vinyl materials, as well as a foam insert and numerous pieces of hardware.

Brown Sales Corp. manufactured the first case for the client in 2010, and since then does a production run approximately once per quarter. “From a material management standpoint it’s a good example of our ability to keep track of specifications and everything that goes with that from an information-handling standpoint—for a product we only manufacture a few times a year,” says Ross Brown, vice president of Brown Sales Corp. “It is by leveraging systems and technology that we are able to consistently maintain high quality while manufacturing this and all our other products.”
