People who spend time on the water, whether for work or play, need to take the right flotation protection with them in the event of an emergency. Damel, a Portuguese textile company that specializes in technical clothing, has introduced outdoor apparel that integrates automatic inflation, eliminating the need to carry extra equipment.

The SeaB2 jackets, vests and overalls look just like regular clothing—you’d never know there’s a life jacket built in. In the event of an emergency, the inflation device activates automatically as soon as it hits the water. It’s meant to fit comfortably so that the wearer is free to swim or crawl and access the nearest vessel or land surface.

SeaB2 clothing is recommended for oil and naval station workers, sailors and fishermen; it’s made of materials with high resistance to tearing and perforation. In addition to being waterproof and heat-insulated, the garments protect against fire and electric arc discharge. A built-in harness and lifeline allows for helicopter rescue at sea.
