The number of facilities that have been certified by the Global Organics Textile Standard (GOTS) increased 21 percent in 2016 to 4,642 according to the recent GOTS Annual Report. GOTS-certified facilities are now located in 63 countries worldwide, impacting 1.4 million workers. GOTS certification covers the processing of organic fibers along the entire supply chain from field to finished product. Growth is evenly spread across all market segments including mass market and large brands. Countries or regions with the largest increase in certification in 2016 include Bangladesh, China, Italy, Germany, India and Pakistan. Currently, there are six GOTS-certified companies in Canada and 54 in the United States.
