Employees donate mosquito nets for the holidays

This year, employees of Insect Shield®, makers of insect-repellent clothing, gave a holiday gift that will keep on giving—donations to provide treated bed nets to Venezuelan indigenous people at risk for malaria and other insect-borne diseases. Insect Shield of Seattle, Wash., uses its EPA-registered pesticide (approved for clothing use) on “mosquiteros” nets, which are designed to use with hammocks. Usually the company buys holiday gifts for customers and partners; this year, an e-card announced a donation was made on their behalf to the Cacique Isaias Rodriguez Memorial Anti-Malaria Project. The nets are distributed to the Yé kuana and Sanema living in the Amazon River basin, tribes facing an increase in more virulent forms of malaria.
