Custom vehicle covers: shrink to fit
Specialty Fabrics Review | February 2011
Shrink-wrap protects everything from fresh food to retail products, and Transhield Inc., Elkhart, Ind., markets comparable protection during transport for larger items, such as planes, trains, boats and limousines. Shrinkable Fabric™ covers feature three layers: a UV-resistant, anti-condensation polyethylene stretch film layer; an olefin hot-melt adhesive middle layer; and a polyester nonwoven soft inner layer to protect pristine vehicle surfaces. The covers feature a patented adhesive additive delivery-vapor corrosion inhibitor (AAD-VCI) system that protects from corrosion during storage or transport.
Another product, TRAIN-shield™, fits rail cars and protects against graffiti, vandalism, corrosion, mold and paint damage while trains sit idle between scheduled runs. The soft inner layer of Transhield custom covers maintain a limo’s or boat’s paint, gel coat and decals during shipment.
