Commuter train’s 10th anniversary features vinyl wrap
Specialty Fabrics Review | March 2009
The Altamont Commuter Express (ACE®) dressed up in party gear for its 10th year of passenger rail service between Stockton and San Jose, Calif. Wrapped Graphics of Stockton wrapped the entire train in printed vinyl, showing off ACE’s commemorative logo and inviting slogan in bright blues, reds and yellows.
Wrapped Graphics used an HP® 9000 printer and Avery Dennison Graphics and Reflective Products’ MPI 1005 EZ™ and DOL 1000 vinyl and screen print products to fashion the wide-format job. The ACE train engine, at 82 feet long and 15 feet tall, took nearly 1,500 feet of vinyl and five working days to complete. “We needed a robust vinyl that will endure the train’s daily commuter rides,” says Larry Lawrence, owner of Wrapped Graphics. Avery’s Easy Apply™ technology helped Wrapped Graphics reduce wrinkling, prevent air bubbles and achieve a smooth finish. For more information, visit www.wrappedgraphics.com.
