Instant event tent adds canopy
Specialty Fabrics Review | March 2011
The X-Gloo event tent, a product of Skywalk GmbH & Co. KG, Grassau, Germany, was designed for set-up requiring very little time and effort. The X-Gloo tent consists of an outer cover of tear-resistant ripstop nylon and replaceable inner air-inflatable tubes that provide stability in both indoor and outdoor environments. The water-repellent, UV-resistant and fire-retardant nylon was originally developed for Skywalk paragliders and surfkites and stands up to extremes of wind and weather. Floor space on the largest X-Gloo is 182 square feet, and Skywalk now offers a new accessory that expands the tent’s size and impact.
The X-Gloo Canopy uses the same air-inflatable technology and can be attached by zipper to each of four openings on the event tent, giving the user up to 387 square feet of additional display area. The X-Gloo tent and canopy can be ordered in two variations: the X-Pert, a custom design with logos, colors, screen printing or attached side walls; and the X-Act, a module with a silver canopy and black inner inflatable matrix.

It takes only 5 minutes to fill the air-inflatable matrix in the X-Gloo Canopy, which holds up for several days without needing blowers. The rounded forms were developed with the help of wind tunnel simulation programs. Photo: Skywalk GmbH & Co. KG.
