In March 2010, Toho Tenax Co. Ltd., the core unit of Teijin’s carbon fibers operations, will begin selling a carbon fiber fabric that is less than half the weight of conventional carbon fiber fabrics. Developed with Sakai Ovex Co. Ltd. and used for forming prepregs, the new fabric will help to further reduce the weight of composite products, making it a good choice for high-strength, low-weight applications in which style and design matter, ranging from golf clubs and tennis racquet shafts to personal computer casings.
