More than 3.5 billion people worldwide tuned into the 2010 Olympic Winter Games during 17 magical days in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Alpine skiing champion Lindsey Vonn’s uncle knew the world would be watching, and worked with Banner Creations, Minneapolis, Minn., to create a memorable message of support for the gold medal winner.

The banners tout VONNcouver on Eco Flag material made in the U.S.A. from 100-percent postconsumer recycled plastic bottles. The material is durable, printable with water-based inks, fire-retardant, machine washable and, after the parade passes by, can be recycled into carpet padding or insulation. When Vonn became the first American woman ever to win a gold medal in downhill skiing, the banners waved by family and friends became more collectible than recyclable.
