Atkins & Pearce’s “Science-in-Motion” exhibit, which will be at IFAI’s Expo 2008 in Charlotte, N.C., Oct. 21–23, represents textile-based technologies and capabilities developed by the company’s research and development department. These will include out-of-the-box concepts designed to meet a variety of challenging applications for a diverse range of industries. Through its product development capabilities, A&P provides key services to strategic partners, including mechanical and manufacturing solutions, braid solutions that incorporate unique yarn geometry and fiber orientation to maximize performance, as well as fiber science and functional coating solutions.

Mechanical solutions include product development projects such as high-strength and lightweight fiber solutions—cables, tether, sewing threads, ballistics—high PSI and abrasion-resistant applications.

Functional coatings include solutions such as customized chemical formulations, flame retardants, abrasion-resistant coatings, colors and dye, UV protection, and coatings for HMWPE and Vectran™.
