No sweat: Tactical response shirt takes the heat
Specialty Fabrics Review | May 2009
The Tru-Spec® brand Tactical Response Uniform (TRU) line, manufactured by Atlanco, Marietta, Ga., brings protection and comfort to military, tactical and law-enforcement clothing. The company’s latest product, the Tactical Response Combat Shirt, fits next to the skin under a protective vest, but wearers get some help in taking the heat.
The shirts are constructed of Cordura® Baselayer, a 60/40 cotton-nylon fiber blend developed by fiber and polymer producer INVISTA, Wilmington, Del. The blend reduces burn injuries by charring instead of melting when exposed to heat. The fabric is durable, abrasion-resistant, lightweight, breathable and manages moisture well, a comfortable option for tactical operators frequently in uncomfortable situations. The Tru-Spec shirt features a mock turtle neck, gusseted sleeves for easy movement, zippered sleeve storage, no shoulder seams and padded elbow patches, all minimizing rubbing, chafing and abrasion. The shirts come in two high-performance fabric options in sizes from small through 2XL. For more information about the TRU line, visit www.atlanco.com.
