Germany technology, textiles in India
Specialty Fabrics Review | May 2010
The two-day Conference on German Technology for Indian Technical Textiles, held March 8–9 in New Delhi and March 11–12 in Mumbai, was jointly organized by FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) and the VDMA Textile Machinery Association, headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany. The conferences included presentations from 18 well-known manufacturers of textile technology, and allowed ample opportunities for group discussions and one-on-one meetings.
The VDMA member companies presented both basic and innovative solutions for potential customers in India to start or increase technical textile production. High-quality textile technology (machinery, measuring, testing and control devices) is required along the entire textile chain to ensure that the final products fulfill required functionality and quality. The market development of technical textiles in India still needs intensification, as there is still a lack of regulations and standards in many areas.
