Fabric structure revitalizes farmer's market
{Mahaffey Fabric Structures} Memphis, Tenn., U.S.A.
Specialty Fabrics Review | June 2009
When a fire destroyed a year-round farmer’s market in Washington, D.C., a structure was needed immediately to replace an important neighborhood gathering place. Mahaffey Fabric Structures provided a custom, clearspan, 50-foot by 225-foot fabric structure in less than six weeks, revitalizing the popular center. Since the market was covering perishable food items, the customer requested insulated hard sides and HVAC for food handling. Translucent fabric tops let sunlight in, and custom graphics on the gable ends acknowledge the location’s historic significance. Fabric used was flame-resistant Precontraint 702 by Ferrari Textiles.
