Oil revenues have created a boom in the Russian construction industry, along with a subsequent increase in worker accidents and injuries. The situation attracted the attention of Moscow’s mayor, Yury Luzhkov, who intervened to stop a rash of serious incidents. Suppliers of personal protective equipment in the city saw an immediate increase in PPE purchases, which continue and may grow from $898 million in 2008 to $1.7 billion in 2015, according to a new analysis by Frost & Sullivan, an industry research and market information group.
