Fabric blocking
Specialty Fabrics Review | July 2010
Compiled by Juli Case
I received some product literature from a supplier and read that the fabric is supposed to be “good” with regards to blocking. What does that mean?
We’re guessing that the fabric in question is either coated or laminated. Sometimes these materials can unintentionally stick together while being stored, and that phenomenon is referred to as “blocking.” Your supplier is likely indicating that this won’t happen with their materials. Still, if you don’t do so already, it would be prudent to get storage suggestions from your suppliers so you’ll know what storage conditions are best for their particular fabric.
