The latest and most innovative technologies in multi-functional materials will be discussed at AATCC’s Advances in Multi-Functional Materials symposium, with sessions focusing on nanotechnologies, health care, protection and performance materials. The symposium, sponsored by AATCC’s Materials interest group, will take place September 12&endash;14 at the Hyatt Regency in Greenville, S.C., U.S.A.

The National Textile Center (NTC) forum will be held in conjunction with the program, allowing attendees to speak directly with leading university researchers about cutting-edge research in fibrous materials.

Some of the presentations to be offered include: “New perspectives on clothing for health and well-being,” Katherine Carroll, NCSU; “Pyrohands and Pyrohead: Recent advances in full-scale fire testing systems,” Roger Barker, NCSU; “Using nanofibers to create innovative multifunctional textiles,” Melinda Carnahan, SNS Nano FiberTechnology LLC; and “Flexible textile electrodes for electroluminescence,” Paul Calvert, University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth.
