TESTEX opens new office in Melbourne
Specialty Fabrics Review | August 2010
Australia imports and exports textiles, but the country has no controls on chemical substances in textile imports and limited safety requirements on exports. TESTEX AG, Zurich, Switzerland, just established a new office in Melbourne that can test both incoming and outgoing textiles to ensure they meet international standards; if they do not, it will seriously hamper Australia’s ability to compete in global markets. The TESTEX Australian office will introduce and advocate for quality standards such as the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, REACH requirements of the European Union, American Apparel Footwear Association Restricted Substances List, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission list of mandatory banned harmful substances.
