Recycled banners become ‘upcycled’—and upscale
Specialty Fabrics Review | September 2012
The core business of Banner Creations Inc., Minneapolis, Minn., is banners, but the company recently launched an e-commerce initiative making use of banner scraps, misprints and overruns. Scrappy Products bags are fashioned from waste fabric, and some are made from 100 percent recycled water and pop bottles, giving the custom products sustainability street cred and unique, customized looks.
Banner Creations makes banners, trade show exhibits, table covers, room dividers and other fabric products and associated hardware. Among its fabric options is Ecofi Ecophab™ made from plastic PET containers, a 100 percent recycled printable fabric that is machine washable and dryable. The company also uses water-based inks as part of its environmental ethos, and offers wholesale printing in small quantities. Scrappy bags are ideal for nonprofit organizations and businesses.
