Ultra-secure paper shredder exceeds high-security requirements

Security Engineered Machinery (SEM) has introduced the Model 344 High Security Paper Shredder, which exceeds current government requirements for the destruction of top secret and classified data. Already evaluated by the National Security Agency (NSA) and listed on the NSA/CSS 02–01 Evaluated Products List for high-security paper shredders, Model 344 reduces paper to miniscule 0.8 mm x 2.5 mm particles that are up to 60 percent smaller than the shreds of competing units on the NSA EPL.

“With tighter requirements anticipated, we are pleased to offer a shredder so well engineered that it significantly surpasses the current NSA standard for high-security document destruction. Customers who purchase the Model 344 could be meeting the next standard before it is even written,” said SEM president Andrew Kelleher.

Easily maneuverable on heavy-duty casters, Model 344 weighs 106 lbs. and is 19½ inches wide, 18½ inches deep, and 36½ inches high. It accepts up to eight sheets of paper at a time. A built-in automatic cutting-head oiling system includes a one-gallon bottle of oil that can be mounted on either side or the back of the machine. The bottle is easily replaced, snapping into place with no pouring necessary.

To ensure optimum safety, an electronically controlled safety flap in the 10¼-inch feed opening prevents fingers and ties from entering the cutting area. An auto-reverse/shutdown system prevents paper jams. The unit also shuts down if the 28-gallon waste bin is full, the door is ajar, or if the shredder has been idle for 30 minutes.

Other user-friendly features include Electronic Capacity Control, a feed meter and oil indicator to help prevent overfeeding and to show auto-oiling functionality. These are among the functions displayed on an illuminated, easy-to-read switch panel. The motor is protected against overheating, and the cabinet is insulated for noise reduction. Start-up kit includes a case of oil and a case of waste-collection bags. A one-year warranty covers all parts. The shredder is also available with an optional rugged case in a field deployment kit.
