Fabric pieces provide distinctive signage and wayfinding

Specialty Fabrics Review | December 2011
“World Alive,” a new exhibit in the Museum at Discovery Place Inc. in Charlotte, N.C., celebrates earth’s biodiversity through diverse habitats filled with live species, hands-on labs, photography and objects. Eventscape Inc. created eight printed fabric pieces to provide distinctive signage and wayfinding, which wraps around the exhibit area. The placement and curves of each of the forms was site specific, requiring careful coordination with the project’s contractor. Developing the graphic path for the prints was complex because the text needed to be in a straight line within the curved form. The resulting 28–47 foot graphics provided a dramatic entrance, enticing visitors to discover each new area.
