Products and services rendered green by today's standards may not be the guidelines for sustainable or green products of the future. Because the green process is a living process in constant change, FGA members have prepared the following sustainability statement as a guideline for all members of the industry:
The Fabric Graphics Association is committed to supporting the sustainable business practices of its members.
FGA, through its educational efforts, encourages the understanding and implementation of environmentally, socially and economically responsible programs that support the growth of its member companies.
FGA works with manufacturers and suppliers to promote products that are environmentally friendly.
FGA encourages its members to adopt practices that conserve resources and energy in their processes, as well as minimize the use of harmful chemicals. FGA members are encouraged to design their products to lower the use of energy throughout the life span of the product.
FGA members should look for opportunities to apply sustainable practices throughout their entire organizations, not just on the plant floor.
The FGA board of directors encourages members to use third party certification programs for formal recognition of their sustainability programs.
The statement will be reinforced during a symposium to be held at IFAI Expo 2009 in San Diego, Calif.
