Forecast on solvent, UV-curable inkjet markets

Print service providers intend to invest more in UV-curable and durable aqueous inkjet than in eco-solvent inkjet or solvent inkjet, according to a report from InfoTrends. While the wide format solvent inkjet printer and supplies market is predicted to reach more than $2 billion in 2015, the report advises solvent inkjet manufacturers to focus on low-end devices and emerging markets. Also recommended: diversifying product offerings to stave off losses and targeting low-end solvent inkjet to small sign shops and entry-level establishments, or as an accompaniment to other devices.

InfoTrends also noted the wide format UV-curable inkjet market is the smallest, yet the most competitive product segment within the wide format digital printing industry. The global market for wide format UV-curable inkjet printers and supplies is expected to grow from $1.42 billion in 2010 to $3.04 billion by 2015. The report notes faster production speed, higher ink efficiency, improved performance on a wide variety of media products, and better environmental properties are key factors in the increased interest in UV-curable inkjet.
