Advantages: Membrane takes equilibrium form by prestressing force formed from asymmetric tensile force, not by pressure in opposition to reinforced concrete structures, which doubles as bearing and covering. The prestressing force is reached through calculations to be made statically and relates to the form and design of structure. Chemical protections may be applied to protect the covering against external factors and to ensure water and air tightness.
