Skiers and snowboarders gear up for winter sports with the best looking, high-performing and protective products they can afford—and if products are eco-friendly, so much the better. Picture Organic Clothing, Gerzat, France, designs its sportswear with two goals in mind: the product must contain a minimum of 50 percent recycled or organic materials and it must have the technical and colorful quality that has distinguished the brand. Picture’s new Hubber Helmet hits the nail on the head. The Hubber’s sleek, functional design and 100 percent recycled/organic content won the ISPO Eco Achievement Award for hardware for 2015–16.
The Hubber’s liner is made out of recycled expandable polyester, collected from Japanese auto makers. The outer shell is made out of polylactic acid, a polymer derived from corn, a renewable resource. The ear pads are made of recycled polyester. Consumers who experience the outdoors in adventurous and competitive ways can take responsibility for preserving natural resources.
