Clyde Grambsch, pop-up manufacturing pioneer and founder of Canvas Replacements, Loyal, Wis., has passed away.
In 1957 Grambsch started EZ-Kamper after developing one of the first modern pop-up camping trailers in America. His impact on the RV industry led to his induction into the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Ind., where his original prototype EZ-Kamper is on display.
In the 1970s Grambsch started Camper & Recreation (now Canvas Replacements), with his son, Bob, joining months later. Canvas Replacements is a private supplier of canvas replacement tops and pop-up camper parts.
Bob now serves as president and continues to run the company with three of Grambsch’s grandsons.
