Fabrics from the roof of Montreal’s Olympic Stadium were upcycled into furniture, lighting and wearables for the “O-Cycle Project” exhibition at Fonderie Darling in Montreal, Que., Canada.
The exhibition was on display April 30–May 4 for Montreal Design Week and celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Montreal Olympic Games, which began in 1976. Pieces featured were made by students from Concordia University’s design program. Led by Jeremy Petrus, a designer and instructor at Concordia, the students focused on the theme of reusing and repairing, creating a variety of items using fabric from the Olympic Stadium’s roof, including a coffee table, lamps, a knee brace, a chair and a bucket hat.
