Students train for color management

Archroma, a maker of specialty chemicals for sustainable solutions, has begun a collaboration with the Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies (CARS) department at the University of North Carolina Greensboro aiming to further the education of its students in the area of color management expertise.

Archroma will donate its proprietary industry color management tools for CARS’ design projects, gaining hands-on expertise that equips them for successful careers in the fashion and textiles industries.

The students will have access to Archroma’s ready-to-use color library for cotton and polyester. The library, known as the Color Atlas, was launched in 2016 to provide off-the-shelf color inspiration that can be implemented in production with just a few clicks.

Students in the CARS program will also have access to the full digital files for use in the VSticher 3D fashion design and development software created by software developer Browzwear. CARS will use The Color Atlas platform in the classroom to teach students about the importance of color management and to inspire creativity and innovation through color. The program is intended to help make CARS students industry-ready on graduation.
