Swiss Precision, an apparel brand for the medical scrub, uniform and accessories markets, hopes to disrupt the medical sector with antimicrobial copper-based garments and accessories.

Swiss Precision describes itself as an “eco-health-tech” company and claims its solutions, which combine conventional materials like cotton and linen with a range of copper alloys, have the potential to better protect both employees and patients in medical facilities.

By treating materials with the antimicrobial coating, they’re said to actively combat bacteria on contact and have been found to be effective against the coronavirus.

“A growing number of infections are contracted because of toxins in such locations as hospitals, known as health-care-associated infections and hospital-acquired infections. Health-care workers protect us. It’s time to protect them,” says co-founder and CEO Leslie Dotson.

The company’s solutions have reportedly been put through their paces by certification and inspection firm SGS, a Swiss company that provides inspection, verification, testing and certification services.

As the company eyes a slice of the $94 billion global medical apparel and accessories market, it plans to supply its products to some 50,000 hospitals and practices across the United States.
