Fiber Week, an annual weeklong event at North House Folk School in Grand Marais, Minn., offers attendees the opportunity to explore fiber arts, from knitting and weaving to natural dyeing. The event includes workshops, craft nights and guest speakers.
Fiber Week 2026 will be Feb. 9–13, 2026, and feature weaving, spinning and knitting classes. Throughout the week, the school will host free evening gatherings as well as Fiber Friday, which will be Feb. 13. The free, all-day event will include speakers, demonstrations and opportunities for attendees to share their fiber art.
The 2025 event was Feb.10–14. The featured speaker was Emma Ewadotter, a textile artist from Umea, Sweden, who taught two embroidery classes during the week. Other classes offered included knitting and dyeing, sculptural felting, needlecraft and tablet weaving, among others.
North House Folk School, founded in 1997, offers courses on traditional northern crafts, such as those from Scandinavia. In addition to Fiber Week, the school holds other events throughout the year and also offers 10-month internships. Each
