Award-winning design, Polartec style

Polartec, the company that revolutionized cold weather wear in 1981 with the introduction of Polartec^® synthetic fleece, is committed to encouraging innovation in fabric technology. The annual Polartec Apex Awards honor the brands and designers that excel at turning Polartec fabrics into unique products. Winners receive the hand-made cast bronze Malden statue, an industry award that is as unique as the winning designs.

The 2019 winners were announced in September, and included 13 wide-ranging products that use Polartec fabrics in unique ways. The full list of winners is available at www.polartec.com.

Notable products include: 

• The Burton Mine77 Power Air Top and Pants, part of Jake Burton’s Mine77 signature product collection. The combo incorporates PolartecPower Air^™ fabric, which regulates body heat by encapsulating air. At the same time, it minimizes fiber shedding. 

• The Adapt Bib Tight, Alpha Baselayer, Alpha Under-Gloves and
Vega Multi Jacket from Santini Cycling Wear is a collection made with
a compression version of Polartec Power Wool^™, which combines the
best of natural and synthetic fibers. The bib tight works for chilly mornings
but also offers protection for mid-winter training outdoors. Baselayers
and under-gloves are made of naked Polartec Alpha^® Direct insulation, and the jacket is made of Polartec Power Shield^® Pro, all providing exceptional breathability, moisture management and thermoregulation for complete thermal balance in diverse climatic conditions.

• The Crazy Idea T-Shirt for women combines fun and function.
Featuring Polartec Delta^™ fabric, the pop art shirt by Crazy, an Italian
ski touring apparel company, incorporates the cooling fabric in the
design meant for summer training.
