The global super absorbent polymer (SAP) market size is poised to reach $12.10 billion by 2025, according to a new study by Grand View Research Inc. Growth is expected to yield a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.3 percent.
Rising demand for baby diapers, adult incontinence products, agriculture applications and female hygiene products is expected to drive the growth. Emerging regions, such as Asia Pacific and Central and South America are likely to witness a sharp rise in demand for baby diapers owing to growing population, disposable income, and awareness regarding the benefits of synthetic baby diapers, the report says.
Agriculture may prove the most promising application segment, experiencing revenue growth of 7.4 percent CAGR. The growth may be attributed to research conducted by governments and agricultural agencies in the U.S., China and India regarding SAP applications for water retention and water absorbing properties, especially in water-scarce regions.
The report noted Europe’s domination of the SAP market in 2018 and predicted expansion for the region of 5.4 percent CAGR. Asia Pacific is likely to exhibit the fastest CAGR of 7.3 percent during the forecast period. Rising demand for environmentally friendly and energy-saving products and solutions is expected to further drive the growth, the report noted.
