IFAI Expo 99 years and counting …

Expo News | December 1, 2019 | By:

In 1912, fourteen manufacturers of awnings and canvas products convened at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver to form the National Tent & Awning Manufacturers Association. The goal of the group was both modest and practical: to set weights and prices for canvas products. But what has endured, for more than a century, is a standard of unity for all the competing—and parallel—issues and markets that came
to advance and expand the industry over those years.

IFAI celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2012, and Review magazine followed in 2015; next year, in Indianapolis, IFAI Expo will reach 100. From the first conference in Detroit in 1918 through the wrap-up of this year’s show in Orlando, attendees have gone beyond trying to solve current business problems and found annual inspiration at the show: asking new questions, finding new answers, making new connections and creating new business goals as part of a professional community with common concerns and aspirations.

Starting with the January issue of the Review, we’ll be using this page to track societal, industrial, cultural and technological trends through the decades, as we track IFAI Expo from its beginnings to its future. Please join us Nov. 3–6 next year in Indianapolis, and add your voice to the conversation.
