AKAS increases knitting capacity

Company News | January 7, 2021 | By:

In response to the overwhelming demand of fabrics used for face masks and surgical gowns, Pennsylvania-based textile manufacturer AKAS Tex has added five knitting machines to increase its knitting capacity.

Two machines will be used for the knitting of double knits such as the ProCool® interlock, two additional machines will be used for the knitting of the Zorb® Dimple spacer fabric, and one machine will be used for TransWick® 1-Way wicking fabric.

The five machines will add 200,300 pounds per year to the company’s existing knitting capacity and will generate much needed employment.
