New footwear materials

Lenzing Group has partnered with Recyc Leather to introduce Pélinova^®, an innovative material that fuses TENCEL^™ Lyocell fibers and recycled leather fibers for high-end fashion applications. This alternative to genuine leather materials is created through a unique, transparent process that involves collecting pre-consumer recycled leather and then hydro-jetting the leather fibers into the TENCEL Lyocell fibers, which are unfavorable to odor-causing bacteria. The resulting material is supple, flexible and durable, uses 70% less water than traditional methods and reduces CO2 emissions.
