Highlights from ATA Japan New Year Meeting and Reception

The Advanced Textiles Association (ATA) Japan held its New Year Meeting and Reception Jan. 22, 2025.

Mizuki Konno was the keynote speaker. He provided an overview and updates on World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, Japan, which will run April 13–Oct. 13. With 158 participating countries and nine international organizations, the event is expected to attract 28.2 million visitors.

Konno introduced pavilion projects with various technological interests, key attractions and projects, including smart mobility innovations like electric flying vehicles; automated translation systems; virtual venues; cultural events, such as sumo tournaments, live music and festivals; and business networking opportunities. He also explained ticketing and pavilion reservation procedures.

Yamaguchi New Shelter Industries Inc. at World Expo 2025

Nobuyuki Yamaguchi, Daisuke Yamaguchi and Mamoru Asano presented Yamaguchi New Shelter Industries Inc.’s contributions to the World Expo. Its projects include the Japan Pavilion, Bahrain Pavilion, Korea Pavilion, Pavilion of the State of Kuwait, NTT Pavilion, shade structures for sales facilities and awnings for dining areas.

Taiyo Kogyo at World Expo 2025

Taiyo Kogyo Co. Ltd. is constructing several pavilions at World Expo 2025. Shinji Nanami, project leader of the Kansai EXPO Business Division, introduced two projects, one a portable sauna structure made with aluminum framing and ETFE and the other, the Future City pavilion. Covering a site area of 7,200 square meters (77,500 square feet), this exhibition space showcases advanced urban concepts and transformative technologies. The pavilion, which is the longest among the Expo pavilions, spans approximately 150 meters (492 feet) in length. ATA Japan Expo 2025 Tour May 16

As part of its engagement with the World Expo, ATA Japan will host a group tour of the event May 16. Participants will visit pavilions, receive guided explanations from industry experts involved in their construction and network during a reception..
