The Advanced Functional Fabrics of America (AFFOA) announced that Z-Polymers, a materials science company, and Nuream, a health technology startup, were chosen as the two Product Accelerator for Functional Fabrics (PAFF) program awardees for 2025. The AFFOA initiative is designed to enable organizations to leverage AFFOA’s capabilities and personnel, at no direct cost, to increase the products’ speed to market for commercial and defense applications.

The program was created to fill the gaps in the development process and to recognize companies in the advanced stages of commercializing an advanced fiber or fabric product or process.

The PAFF program will focus on leveraging Z-Polymer’s ultra-fine diameter Tullomer™ 3D printing filaments, pellets and yarns to develop strong and thin woven structures as efficient membranes for fuel cell and electrolyzer applications. The program will aid Nuream in the continued development of the company’s fabric-integrated sleep monitoring systems, working to embed these systems into everyday textiles, such as pillowcases and bedding.
