Chicago Marine Canvas announced Oct. 16 that the shop’s quality management system (QMS) has achieved ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D certification.
“It represents another step toward building a company that serves its customers better and is prepared for more demanding manufacturing opportunities,” said Vince Innocenzi, president of Chicago Marine Canvas.
ISO 9001 is a foundational QMS that helps businesses meet regulatory standards in quality, safety, efficiency and consistency across the entire manufacturing process. AS9100D is based on ISO 9001, adding specific requirements for the aviation, aerospace and defense industries.
“I especially want to thank our employees. Their skill, care and daily effort are what make this business work. This is their accomplishment, too,” said Innocenzi. “From 500 square feet to this milestone, I’m proud of what our team has built — and excited about what comes next.”
He added that the shop is open to introductions to companies looking for a manufacturing partner for sewn and welded textile products.
“Our roots are in marine canvas and upholstery, and that remains an important part of who we are. We’re also building on those capabilities as we pursue additional work in industrial, aerospace and defense manufacturing,” he says.
