What were you most afraid of when taking that risky step of starting your own company?

At that moment, the thing I was most afraid of was losing my reputation as a good technical engineer. Of course, when I decided to start the company I was finishing my MBA, and that supposes that you have the tools and knowledge to start a business properly, which made me more determined not to fail. Now, in addition to that, I don’t want to fail the people who work for me, because they trust and rely on the company doing well.

Do you market green roofs based on environmental benefits?

Yes. But also what we have been experiencing in Mexico City is a shortage of green spaces for recreation. People who don’t have a garden on the ground level, because there is no space, are interested in our products. Also, decreasing the temperature inside the building is a driver for customers. Once they are already interested, we transmit the environmental benefits, such as carbon dioxide consumption, oxygen production and the natural cycle of water restoration.
