Sustainability symposium to be held in July

The Rip Curl Project will be discussed at “Fashioning Now: Changing the Way We Make and Use Clothes,” a sustainability symposium for designers, students and the fashion industry, Tuesday July 26, 2009, at the University of Technology (UTS), Sydney, Australia. Speakers include Marie O’Mahony (UTS), Dr Kate Fletcher, Reader in Sustainable Fashion, London College of Fashion, and invited speakers from the Australian fashion and sportswear industries. Marie O’Mahony is professor of Advanced Textiles for Fashion Design at UTS. A textile and technology consultant and exhibition curator, she is also the author of numerous books on the subject, including TechnoTextiles 2. Exhibitions include design-led shows for IFAI in San Antonio and, most recently, in Charlotte. She is currently working on a new book, Advanced Textiles: Design for Wellness and Health, to be published in 2010.
