What to know before you purchase a printer

By: / Uncategorized

When purchasing a new printer, consider your key applications and select the right technology accordingly. “Look for a strong supplier and form a relationship with that manufacturer,” says Julie Gederos, of Roland DGA Group. “The printer is the backbone of your business, so you should have high levels of support from your manufacturer as well as education and training services to keep you up to date and allow you to maximize your investment. Trade shows and dealer events are great venues for comparing and testing the capabilities of printers. These events also allow you to see print quality first hand and talk to others in the industry for added input.”

Chris Howard of Durst Image Technology U.S. says that when companies are looking at the investment of a print platform they need to determine the primary applications they will need to be producing and the volume that they will want to grow to in order to narrow down the equipment choices in the market. “We always ask customers who are interested in our printing platforms to contact users of those machines so that they can discuss and understand what the machines are capable of and how to best implement them into their production,” Howard says.
