0308_Sw10_2One of very few industrial textile companies left in Philadelphia, Ehmke Manufacturing Co. Inc. continues to thrive in its niche as a supplier of fabric products for military markets. The Boeing Co., Chicago, Ill., conferred the 2007 Performance Excellence Award on Ehmke as an exceptional supplier among the approximately 10,000 companies that provide products for the major aircraft manufacturer. Ehmke provides engineering, manufacturing and installation of acoustical insulation blankets for the Boeing H-47 Chinook and V-22 Osprey programs. Boeing rated Ehmke a 99.87 percent quality supplier and 99.9 percent delivery supplier. “This honor shows our employees that their tireless effort is appreciated and recognized by one of the pre-eminent defense companies in the world,” says Cliff Stokes, Ehmke COO and owner.

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) also recognized Ehmke as the 2007 Innovative Business Performer of the Year for a HUBZone Small Business. Ehmke’s technical textile products, including soft-sided cases, medical kits, mobile kitchen trailer components, gun covers and strap assemblies, are used by the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. The federal HUBZone program brings contracting opportunities to qualified small businesses in historically underutilized business zones. “Our relationship with…Defense Supply Center Philadelphia truly demonstrates a team effort to provide those men and women in harm&rsquop;s way with the absolute best products in a timely fashion,” says Robert Rosania, Ehmke CEO and owner.
