Conference to focus on sustainable practices

The American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC), in conjunction with the Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) and the China Textile Information Centre (CTIC), will sponsor a conference on “Color Technology for Best Practice and Sustainability in the Global Textile and Apparel Supply Chain.” The program will focus on color and color chemistry, dyeing and finishing, with an emphasis on environmental issues and sustainability. Scheduled for July 23–25 at the Holiday Inn Downtown in Shanghai, the conference will include a variety of technical presentations as well as tabletop exhibits.

Topics include: “Fiber Choice and Sustainability Issues: Green is not Black and White” by Martin Bide, University of Rhode Island; “Developing and Managing Chemical Restrictions throughout a Global Apparel Supply Chain” by Sean Cady, Levi Strauss & Co.; and “Four E’s (ecology, economy, environment, efficiency)” by Martin Jöellenbeck, Clariant Corp.

Corporate sponsors for the conference include BASF East Asia Regional Headquarters Ltd., Clariant Corp., DyStar, Q-Lab Corp. and SDL Atlas Ltd.
