Prodesco Inc., Perkasie, Pa., celebrated its 65th year of technical textile manufacturing on November 20, 2008, with an award ceremony and history presentation—preceded by a day of volunteer service in the community. On November 19, Prodesco employees worked for free, building Habitat for Humanity housing, helping keep local parks clean and green, and assisting at Pearl S. Buck International, a nonprofit headquartered in Perkasie, the home of the famous author. The company employs 100 people, specializing in textiles for biomedical science, aeronautics, filtration and automotive industries. The UK-based firm Fenner PLC purchased the company in early 2008 and plans to keep the business at the Perkasie headquarters.
