By acquiring Textronics, a Wilmington, Del., company that develops and sells wearable sensors for fitness and health monitoring, Adidas brings new technology to sporting markets focused on measurement and performance. Textronics introduced the first consumer garment to incorporate heart rate monitoring, and the company’s NuMetrex® brand was named the 2006 Product of the Year by the Sporting Goods Manufacturer’s Association.
